Community•Guidelines

Our goal is to create a good tool and sustainable community for making and sharing webpages. How can we accomplish that? By being clear about what 13k.io is—and what it is not.

This is a Community Garden

We are a community for coders, designers, and HTML dabblers that experiment, build, and share their creations. A community garden works the same way. We all share a bit a space and make stuff that we want. And so I thought it was appropriate to frame our guidelines as one would for a community garden.

In my neighborhood we have a community garden and I thought that its rules would apply nicely here.

Respect the Space

Keep the garden clean and tidy. Dispose of trash properly and take care of shared tools and equipment.

Do not waste space. 13 KB does not seem like much, but your webpages are still being stored on servers not owned by you. Make every bit count. Keep it tidy. Treat us right. Be kind to our tools and our space.

Respect Others

Be kind and considerate to fellow gardeners. Avoid interfering with others' plots or plants.

We are sharing this space with eachother. Do not interfer with eachother. Appreciate the beauty that all of you bring.

Plant Responsibly

Choose plants that are suitable for the environment and won't harm the surrounding community.

Do not try to publish something that is not something you think others will enjoy. Certaintly, do not publish something harmful to other users and their art.

Weed and Maintain

Keep your plot free of weeds and pests. Regularly tend to your plants to avoid affecting neighboring plots.

Keep your work up to date and make sure it stays working (especially 100 years from now...)

No Chemicals

Avoid using pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers that could harm the environment or others' plants.

Please do not kill us with spam, cheap hacks, and other malicious content.

We are not a bastion of free speech. While we value creativity and expression, we also believe in accountability. What you say here can have consequences, and we reserve the right to moderate content that does not align with our values.

Above All Else

Stimulate curiosity. Create things that others will want to copy. Create things that others will love. Create things for you.

Still, we value freedom of expression, but realize that all content isn't appropriate for a wide audience. We may remove or limit accounts of content containing:

  • Conspiracy theories
  • Harm to animals
  • Overtly sexual content
  • References or depictions of illegal activities

We got the right to remove, limit, or block any content or accounts that violate these guidelines, and to update or change them as needed.
